Godrej Whitefield: Weekend Getaways Within Three Hours
Every weekend getaway list for Bangalore quotes drive times from the city centre. If you live on the eastern side, those numbers are wrong in your favour.

The East Bangalore Head Start
Here is the thing nobody mentions.
A Saturday drive that begins in Koramangala or Jayanagar spends its first hour simply getting out of the city. A drive that begins on Soukya Road is on open road within about twenty minutes.
Across years of weekends, that difference genuinely changes how often you go anywhere. A trip that costs you an hour of city traffic before it starts is one you make three times a year. A trip that starts properly is one you make monthly.
The catch is that this works in one direction. More on that below.
Under Two Hours from Godrej Whitefield Villas
Nandi Hills is the classic. Listed at around 67 km from Bangalore with a drive time of roughly two hours, it sits north of the city, so the eastern side reaches it comfortably.
Beyond the famous sunrise at Tipu's Drop, there is more up there than most day-trippers see — the Chola-era Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple at the summit, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Amrita Sarovar, and the Brahmashram Cave behind the temple complex. At the base village, the ninth-century Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is worth the stop on its own.
For breakfast, Nandi Upachar Garden is run by Karnataka Tourism.
Skandagiri sits nearby and is known for night treks, though the trek is restricted during monsoon. The base village is also used for paragliding.
Anthargange, near Kolar, is the eastern option and the one Whitefield residents reach fastest of all. Sources put it between roughly 67 and 90 km depending on route, at about two hours from the city.
It is a volcanic boulder hill at around 1,226 metres, with a network of caves formed between the rocks. The trek is roughly three kilometres and generally rated easy to moderate, with the Someshwara Temple nearby. Night treks and sunrise treks are both popular.
Best visited between October and March. Note that public bus connections are limited, so this is a drive-yourself or hire-a-cab trip.
Two to Three Hours from Godrej Whitefield Villas
Horsley Hills, across the border in Andhra Pradesh, sits at around 1,290 metres. It is a quiet hill station with a lake, several viewpoints including Whisper Wind View Point, the Mallamma Temple and a small zoo.
Best between December and March, and better as an overnight than a day trip.
Yelagiri, in Tamil Nadu, is the other hill option in this band — nature trails, a lake, and considerably fewer crowds than the better-known hill stations.
Both of these are east or south-east, which again favours anyone starting from Whitefield.
The Trips That Cost You Extra from the East
Being honest about the trade-off.
The head start works going east and north. It works against you going west and south.
Mysore, Coorg, Chikmagalur, Ramanagara, Savandurga and the Kanakapura belt all require crossing or skirting the entire city first. From Soukya Road, add roughly an hour to any quoted drive time for these.
That does not make them impossible. It makes them proper weekend trips rather than day trips. Plan an overnight rather than fighting a return journey the same evening.
And some places quoted as weekend getaways are simply beyond three hours regardless. BR Hills, for instance, is listed at around 217 km with a drive of four to five hours. Worth going. Not a Saturday.
Practical Planning
Four things regular weekenders learn.
Leave properly early. For sunrise trips like Nandi Hills or Anthargange, that means leaving in the dark. The advantage of the eastern side is that you are not adding city traffic to an already early start.
Check the season. Most of these places are best between October and March. Summer is uncomfortable on exposed hills, and monsoon brings genuine restrictions — some treks close entirely during active rain.
Check current status before you go. Trek access, ghat road conditions and entry rules change, particularly around monsoon. A quick check the night before saves a wasted drive.
Book ahead for overnights. Small hill stations have limited accommodation and it fills up on long weekends.
Why This Matters When Choosing Where to Live
Lifestyle factors rarely make it into property decisions, and this one probably should.
If your idea of a good weekend involves driving out of the city regularly, where you live determines how often you actually do it. Not whether you can. How often.
The Godrej Whitefield Villas location on Soukya Road, off Whitefield, sits on the right side of the city for that. NH-648 and the eastern road network get you moving quickly.
It also works the other way. Coming home on a Sunday evening, you are not crawling through the city to reach your own door.

The project spans about 20 acres with around 242 homes, offering 4 BHK at 3,715 sq.ft, 4 BHK with staff room at 4,000 sq.ft and 5 BHK with staff room at 5,500 sq.ft, each on a 3,715 sq.ft land parcel. From Rs 5.40 Cr onwards.
The builder is Godrej Properties, started in 1990 and part of a group over 125 years old.
The project is at pre-launch with the RERA number still to be confirmed. Under Karnataka RERA, do not pay anything until it exists, then check it yourself on the Karnataka RERA website.
The Bottom Line
Hills, caves, ninth-century temples and quiet lakes all sit within a comfortable drive of East Bangalore — and from this side of the city, you reach them before people leaving the centre have cleared their own neighbourhood.
Going west costs you an hour. Going east costs you nothing. Plan your weekends accordingly.
